Hello everyone and welcome to my second Blog on creating my BJD doll!
Here I drew a little picture of what I want her to look like:
Oh and I named her Alice, because Alice is a nice name. :3
Now let's get down to business :P NOW WE SHALL MOLD THE HEAD!
Sadly I don't have step by step photos, but I will talk you through what I did.
First I got a polystyrene ball that was slightly smaller than the doll's head on the blueprint, covered it in clingfilm so nothing sticks and molded the head. Then I scored a kinda skull cap shape so that when it dries I can easily pop her cap off (LOLXD)
Looks pretty evil and ick right? Well thats OKAY! You can mold and change and carve to make her look pretty ^_^ What really helped me the most was molding it and having a picture of a BJD doll's head on google there for reference.
Added more clay to make the face look less.......urgleh. She looks better now right?? D:
Sanded down and bit :3
And walla.......The head took me like 4 hours to mold and then another 3 to get it looking right ish. (WTF I'M NOT EVEN A PERFECTIONIST!! This was mentally straining and if I didn't have my music on in the background I would have thrown the head against the wall XD)

YES SEE IT IS HOLLOW. This is where the ball would have been after I recklessly scooped it out...
I was following this tutorial by Deskleaves on dA: http://deskleaves.deviantart.com/art/Ball-jointed-doll-tutorial-part-1-303710466
All the parts are there :3

First steps
Recently I've undergone a new project: Making a BJD Doll! I'm going to blog all the different steps, and provide links to some tutorials for you guys too! :)
First of all I started planning my blueprint for the doll....this was hard to get all the proportions and I was stressing but I found a nice free blueprint online to base it on:
So I copied this on to an A3 bit of Paper and then made some adjustments, how easy was that? After this I gathered my materials. I found all I needed from AMAZON! Amazon is amazing and cheap. As you may know, BJDs are extremely expensive :< making one is cheaper. ( A BLUEPRINT IS CRUCIAL TO GET THE DOLL WORKING PROPERLY AND NOT LOOKING WEIRD)
Here are my materials. Things you will need are:
1.Paperclay (The most inexpensive material to use. You don't need to bake it, it's easy to work with and after it dries, it's white! Use DAZ it's good quality, and I got it for 3.99 a kg from Amazon <3)
2. Sculpting tools (Got mine off amazon for about £5)
3. Polystyrene balls (these assorted balls are perfect for the joints you need to make!)
4. I went ahead of myself and bought some Primer and Sealer spray, and some gloss (make sure it is ok to use on clay)for when you paint it.
5. I got a little drill kit (about £15) but this is not needed.
6. SANDPAPER, you need this, I recommend p80 or wet n dry, anything rougher and it will leave horrible scratch marks on your doll :(
7. (OPTIONAL) I had some leftover hair extentions, to make a wig with :P
8. Doll eyes (very cheap off ebay about £3)
9. Cling film (Yes you need this)
10. Elastic string
11. Some little hooks (or paperclips)
All in all the materials cost around £50, which is good compared to the price of a doll I was looking to buy (£200+)
So, we are all ready yes? :D
